Conclusion of the project With Dinner Against Mines implemented by Coccoball Production   (2013-04-11)
The project consisted of production and printing of the picture book "Treasure Map" which was distributed to school children for free. The picture book was distributed in schools within three different ethnic groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina and between Bosnia Herzegovina and neighbouring Croatia in the areas that are still affected by mines.

ITF hosted a group of student in ITF office in Sarajevo   (2013-04-10)
On March 28, 2013 ITF Enhancing Human Security hostet a gropu of students at ITF office in Sarajevo. In the frame of the funds raised at the first Mine Awareness Night to Make A DifferencE - MANMADE in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ITF implemented the Mine Victims Assistance project by scholarship eleven mine/UXO victims or mine victims family members from all over the B&H.

ITF hosting RASR conference in Bled   (2013-04-05)
The RASR initiative (Regional Approach to Stockpile Reduction www.rasrinitiative.org) conference is being held in Bled, where interested governments have been invited to develop a coordinated regional approach in providing adequate protection, safeguarding and destruction of conventional weapons and ammunition.

Lend Your Leg campaign in Slovenia   (2013-04-05)
On 04 April, 2013 International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, a one month long global campaign Lend Your Leg came to the end when supporters symbolically rolled up pant legs expressing their support for all mine victims. ITF has again joined the global campaign supported by over 70 countries and implemented an awareness raising activities in Slovenia.

ITF Press conference   (2013-04-03)
On 3 April, 2013 ITF held a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to mark the 15th anniversary of ITF`s activity in the area of development and humanitarian aid and to present the results of the previous year. ITF also presented the national Lend you leg campaign which is being implemented for the second time in Slovenia by ITF as a part of the international campaign in support of mine free world.

Completion of demining activities in National Park Krka   (2013-03-15)
On 12 March 2013, Mr. Dorijan Maršič, ITF Director attended the official handover ceremony of demining certificate following the completion of demining activities on demining project funded by National Park Krka. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Kenneth Merten, US ambassador to Croatia, Mr. Tonči Restović-NP Krka director, Mr. Dražen Jakopec-director of Croatian Mine Action Center - CROMAC, prof.dr.sc. Dijana Pleština- Director of the Office for Demining of the Republic of Croatia and Mr. Goran Pauk-Šibenik Knin County prefect.

Telemedicine Seminars in Cape Verde and Inauguration of Phase 1 of the Program   (2013-01-11)
Since October 2012, IVeH has through the ITF implemented several clinical seminars on Telemedicine and e-health applications that were followed by Inauguration of Phase 1 of the Program in January 11, 2013 on island Sao Vicente. In same period of time, first shippment of telemedicine equipment was being delievered and installed to hospitals where also technical seminars were implemented to introduce experts with working procedures.

On January 10, 2013 Ambassador of Czech Republic to Slovenia Mr. Petr Voznica visited ITF. At the meeting with ITF director, Dorijan Maršič, and Head of ITF office in BiH, Gregor Sančanin, the Czech funded activities in 2011 and 2012 were discussed, as well as joint plans for 2013.

Memorandum of Understanding signed with Lebanese Mine Action Centre   (2012-12-06)
On 28 November, 2012 ITF Enhancing Human Security has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Lebanese Mine Action Center. ITF has established an excellent relationship and cooperation with LMAC and is obtaining a partnership status to continue to fundraise for and facilitate/implement cluster munitions and explosive remnants of war clearance in Lebanon in accordance with Lebanon Mine Action Strategy (2011 – 2020) and tasking by the LMAC as national authority for mine action.

Memorandum of Understanding signed with Palestinian Mine Action Centre   (2012-12-06)
On 06 December, 2012 ITF has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Palestinian Mine Action Centre (PMAC) which seeks to enhance its promotion and coordination of mine action at the national level and to ensure a capacity to meet the mine action requirements in accordance with international mine action standards and national legislative related to mine action.

12th Meeting of States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty   (2012-12-04)
In period 3-7 December 2012, exactly 15 years after the Mine Ban Treaty was opened for signature in Ottawa, Canada, governments, international agencies, and civil society are gathering in Geneva for the treaty’s 12th Meeting of States Parties (12MSP). Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karl Erjavec attended the opening of 12MSP and gave a speech when Slovenia has taken over the Presidency.

Rehabilitation of four patients from Egypt at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia   (2012-11-26)
On 10 November 2012 four patients from Egypt arrived at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča) for rehabilitation treatment. Children were accompanied by two physiotherapists who also arrived at URI Soča for on-the-job training.

Demining certificate handed over to local community Josipdol, Croatia   (2012-11-20)

Official ceremony for completion of works on 9 locations in Municipalities Hadžići, Vogošća and Ilijaš   (2012-11-15)
On Monday 12. November 2012 an official ceremony was held at the Ministry of Economy of Canton Sarajevo together with representatives of US Embassy in BiH, ITF and media, where final certificates of cleared areas were handed over to Mayors of Vogošća and Ilidža Municipalities.

Visit of Afghan demining experts to Tajikistan   (2012-11-07)
Visit of a group of humanitarian de-mining experts from Afghanistan to share their experience with Tajik counterparts, started in Dushanbe today. The visit was organized jointly by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan and ITF, through its cross-border technical co-operation programme on explosive hazards reduction and response, and in cooperation with Tajik Mine Action Centre / UNDP in Tajikistan.

U.S. continues to be the key supporter of the ITF   (2012-10-29)
ITF receives over US$ 10 million from the United States of America. Funds under the new grant are earmarked for humanitarian demining, clearance of explosive remnants of war including cluster munitions, and destruction of surplus munitions in South East Europe and Lebanon.

The 45th Regular Session of ITF Managing Board was held on 23 October 2012 at ITF Headquarters in Ig, Slovenia. Demining works on the project “Area of National Park Krka” in Šibenik Knin County in Croatia started in September 2012   (2012-10-03)
The project in total area of 204.417 m2 consists of 5 project areas that stretch in the vicinity of three cities: Šibenik, Skradin and Drniš. Funds for the implementation were provided by the National Park Krka through the foundation “Croatia without mines” while ITF matched the available funds with funds provided by the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.

The ninth group of Gaza children at University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia   (2012-09-25)
On 24 September 2012, the ninth group of 10 children from Gaza arrived for the rehabilitation at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča). Children were accompanied by three physiotherapists who also arrived at URI Soča for on-the-job training.

ITF presented its cluster munitions clearance activities at the 3rd Meeting of State Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions   (2012-09-13)
In the week from 11 till 14 September 2012, the 3rd Meeting of State Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions is held in Oslo, Norway, where ITF Enhancing human Security has participated as an observer organization. Altogether 111 countries participated at the 3rd meeting out of which 36 have not ratified it yet.

Development of the regional centre for rehabilitation and education of children and young adults - victims of trauma - Centre M.A.R.E.   (2012-09-11)
The first out of four workshops (creative, sports, painting and psycho-social workshops) within the project of Centre M.A.R.E. has started on August 5th 2012. Until the end of August 2012, 4 workshops were held where 80 children/teenage victims mainly from Sisak-Moslava County and Osijek-Baranja County attended.

Second training for Russian deminers successfully concluded   (2012-08-30)
On August 30, 2012 the second training organized by ITF Enhancing Human Security and HCR-CTRO for Russian experts from the company “ITC – Special works" successfully concluded in Topusko, Croatia. The company “ITC – Special works" is known for carrying out demining operations in Russia as well as in the former republics of the Soviet Union.

Rehabilitation of children from Ukraine and Belarus in Slovenia   (2012-08-28)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia has been in cooperation with the Slovenian Red Cross, since 2005 implementing rehabilitation project to Ukrainian children who are suffering the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear explosion and who are still experiencing health problems. This year Slovenia welcomed 31 children for the rehabilitation.

Successful conclusion of UXO clearance project in Chelopechene, Bulgaria   (2012-07-27)

Opening Ceremony of Demining Project „Area of the Kotar forest“   (2012-07-26)
ITF Director, Mr Dorijan Maršič attended the opening ceremony of demining works on the project „Area of the Kotar forest“ near the town of Petrinja, Sisak Moslavina County, Croatia on Thursday, 26 July 2012. The project area of 34.907 sq. meters consisting of the forest is located close to the houses in a very inhabited residental area of Mošćenica. It represents a daily danger for the locals as the forest is suspected to be heavily mined. 14 mine related incidents happened in the Kotar forest, especially in the Tomislavova street where 12 people were killed by stepping and triggering the antipersonnel mines. ITF provided donations for the Project from Croatian Trust Fund Croatia without Mines and United States of America - Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.

Memorandum of Understanding signed with Croatia without mines   (2012-05-23)
On March 23,2012 the Foundation "Croatia without mines" and INA d.d. signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the donation of 500.000,00 HRK which will be used for demining the area in the vicinity of a residential area located near Kotar Šuma in Sisak Moslava County. The donation will be matched by ITF matching funds mechanism.

Completion of the third phase of underwater UXO clearance of Lake Ohrid   (2012-03-29)
During the third clearance phase supported by the United States of America through ITF, 8.790 m2 of lake`s bottom were successfully cleared by safely removing 2.620 UXO weighing more than 3.7 tons which were later on destroyed.

CROMAC Center for Testing, Development and Training Ltd (CROMAC CTDT) from Croatia successfully finished Training for UXO Detection and Removal - Level 2. The training was held in Topusko, Croatia between 07 November and 18 November 2011. The training funded by Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U. S. On 21st October 2011 was organized a closing event for eighth group of children from Gaza who came on rehabilitation treatment at URI Soča. A group of 10 children and two physiotherapists, who arrived at URI Soča for on-the-job training, arrived to Slovenia on 28 September 2011 and stayed here until 23 October 2011.

Mine Action Day - International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action   (2011-04-04)
The Day provides an opportunity to draw additional attention to the problem of landmines and explosive remnants of war and highlight the vigorous efforts to counter this challenge. It is a Day when we have to remember thousands of people killed and injured due to landmine threat and that give us a chance to stop just for a second and review our past work and make new plans for future, which will lead us to accomplishment of our vision - a world free of the threat from post-conflict and disruptive challenges, including landmines and where the security of individuals and communities is assured.

On January 10, 2011 German Ambassador to Croatia, H.E. Dr Bernd Fischer opened the demining project site in Čista Mala, in Šibenik Knin County. Visit of children from Gaza at URI Soča   (2010-11-27)

The Convention on Cluster Munitions entered into force   (2010-08-01)
The Convention on Cluster Munitions entered into force on 01 August 2010 and prohibits all use, stockpiling, production and transfer of cluster munitions. ITF has been active in this field since 2003. Slovenia signed and ratified the Convention on Cluster Munitions which requires from all states parties to that Convection to fully respect the full prohibition of use, stockpiling, production and transfer of cluster munitions. In addition, the Convention also covers care and rehabilitation for victims of cluster munitions, clearance of contaminated areas, risk reduction education and destruction of stockpiles.

Roots of Peace donation for Baštice area in Croatia   (2010-04-27)
International Humanitarian Demining Symposium 2010 in Šibenik, Croatia was this year also an opportunity for ITF to receive a donation from Mr. Miljenko Grgich, a winemaker from California, Croatian descent, who donated 10.000,00 USD for demining activities in Croatia. In the name of Mr. Grgich, the check was handed over to Mrs. Djurdja Adlesic, a Vice-President of the Croatian Government by Mrs. Heidi Kuhn, Founder of Roots of Peace. Donation will be matched with the funds of US Government and will be used for demining of Baštice area to increase safety of life and to encourage vine production in the area.

Switzerland again donates for demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina   (2010-04-16)
ITF received a donation from Switzerland, one of the most regular supporters of the ITF, in the amount of 300.000 CHF. The donation agreement was signed on 16 April 2010 at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ljubljana, by H.E. Stefan Speck, Swiss Ambassador to Slovenia and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, ITF Director. Lions Club Charitable Event - Concert in Ljubljana   (2010-04-12)

On Saturday, 10 April 2010, a charitable event - concert was held in Križanke festival hall in Ljubljana as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Lions Club activity in Slovenia.
Various artists performed during the concert - among others folk group Terrafolk, Tokac from the rock band Dan D, Oto Pestner, Jadranka Juras, Janez Bončina Benč, Ave, Anže Palka with New Flamenco Orchestra, Mak Grgič, Pavle Kavec and group Oko and Lions Band.
All charitable proceeds from the concert were allocated for tuition intended for children from low income families, for the park for blind and visually impaired persons in Celje, the implementation of “School in the Box” program and for International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance for activities in the field of mine action.

The 24th Session of ITF Board of Advisors   (2010-03-30)
The 24th Session of ITF Board of Advisors (BoA) was held on 30 March, 2010 in Karantanija Room of Hotel Lev in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The ITF Annual Report 2009 and brief on achievements of 2010 ITF Plan were presented at the meeting and were subsequently taken note by the members of the ITF Board of Advisors. 
The opening speech was made by Mr Dorijan Maršič, the new ITF director, who highlighted the new ITF strategy and plans for the next four years of his tenure at ITF.  Mr Maršič also invited  all the donors to join the ITF  in the efforts  towards the fulfillment of the ITF strategic goals.  The Chairman of the 24th Session of BoA,  H.E. Mr Shigeharu Maruyama, representative of Japan ended the session at 12:30 and invited all the participants to the next meeting of BoA which is scheduled for October/November 2010.

Management Training for Middle Managers of the Mine Action Programmes in the South Caucasus   (2009-11-09)
International Trust Fund (ITF) identified together with Georgian national authorities and other international actors the need to train the responsible national staff in management of mine action programmes. Facilitation of Central Asian Regional Cooperation   (2009-10-09)
On October 9 2009 the delegation of the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance – ITF consisting of Mr. Jernej Cimpersek, Deputy Head of Permanent Mission of Slovenia to the OSCE and Mr. Iztok Hocevar, Adviser for International Relations, ITF, visited CARICC. The purpose of the meeting was to get information and study experience of creation of a regional cooperation body such as CARICC.

Second donation of Federal Republic of Germany in 2009   (2009-09-24)
The International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has received for the second time in 2009 an important contribution from Germany which will be used for demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A Memorandum of Understanding for the donation in the amount of 350,000 EUR was signed by H. E. Matthias von Kummer, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Slovenia, and Mr Goran Gačnik, Director of the ITF on September  24, 2009 at the German Embassy in Ljubljana.

Visit of Austrian Federal Chancellor Fayman and Slovenian Prime Minister Pahor to ITF   (2009-08-26)
In the scope of working visit of Austrian Federal Chancellor Werner Faymann to Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor, the premises of the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) in Ig, Slovenia were visited. Director of ITF, Mr. Goran Gačnik, presented ITF activities in the field of mine action in the region of SE Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. During the visit, the Chancellor Faymann and Prime Minister Pahor were also acquainted with the permanent exhibition on humanitarian demining and a collection of mines and other unexploded ordnance (UXO), which is used for training purposes within the framework of the Training Center for Protection and Disaster Relief at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia.

Rehabilitation of children from Gaza   (2009-08-20)
Upon the initiative of President of Slovenia for humanitarian assistance to Gaza and following the decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Health, which is one of the founding ministries to the ITF, donated 146,000.00 EUR for the project of rehabilitation of children from Gaza. Immediately the initiative was supported by the contributions of the United States of America ($ 140,434.41 US) and South Korea ($ 20,000.00 US).

Trainings for Georgian personnel in Azerbaijan   (2009-07-20)
As a part of the initiative of the Government of Azerbaijan on provision of humanitarian mine action assistance to Georgia and with the support of ITF donor community 17 personnel from the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will receive the humanitarian demining training at the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action Goygol Regional Training Base in period 20 July - 21 August 2009.

Norway contribution to ITF in 2009   (2009-05-15)
International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has again received the Kingdom of Norway donation for 2009 in amount of 3.304.900 EUR. ITF signed MoU with Germany for BH and Serbia   (2009-05-11)
On 11th May 2009 at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Ulrich Schmidt, Deputy Chief of Mission at German Embassy and  Mr. Goran Gacnik, ITF Director, signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on which basis the Federal Republic of Germany entrusted yet another donation to the ITF.  The donations in the total amount of EUR 400.000 will be used for continuation of demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the final phaseof demining activities in Serbia.

United States of America has again supported activities of the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victim Assistance (ITF) with 12.376.238 US$ emarked for ITF activities in 2009. The 2009 grant agreement was signed on 8th May 2009 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Slovenia, by the US Department of State Contracting and Grants Officer Mr. Harold Leo Powell and ITF Director Mr. Goran Gačnik.

ITF will Co-Host Golf Events in United States and Slovenia   (2009-01-13)
The International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) will host two golf tournaments in 2009 to raise funds to make the world a better and safer place for children to play, people to work, and communities to grow without the fear of landmines and unexploded ordnance.  In partnership with the U.S. non-governmental organization, the Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI), the two “Legacy of Hope” events will benefit humanitarian mine action projects in four countries:  Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia. Both tournaments are looking for players and sponsors.

Austrian support to BH MAC   (2008-12-16)
The official handover of vehicles and protective equipment to BH MAC survey teams was implemented by Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Closing Ceremony of the Campaign “Ambassador of Slovenia Runs for Landmine Survivors”   (2008-11-11)

Mr Samuel Žbogar has with his participation in four marathons as the Slovenian Ambassador in the United States raised public awareness for the needs of landmine survivors and has generated private funding to provide medical care, rehabilitation and new replacement prostheses for six landmine survivors from Bosnia and Herzegovina in second half of 2007.

Czech Prime Minister's Site Visit in Croatia   (2008-09-10)
The Prime Minister of Czech Republic H.E. Mr. Mirek Topolánek visited the town of Tordinci in Vukovar Srijem County on 10 September 2008. Vukovar Srijem County is one of the largest mine contaminated counties in Croatia. The mine suspected area (MSA) in Vukovar Srijem County amounts to 79% of the total County area.

Cooperation between ITF and Demining Fund of Vukovar Srijem County   (2008-03-20)
International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victim Assistance  (ITF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vukovar Srijem County Demining Fund in the amount of 3 million Croatian kunas. The MoU  was signed in Vukovar Srijem County headquarters by Mr. Božo Galič, the County Prefect of Vukovar Srijem County and Mr. Goran Gačnik, ITF director. The donation will be matched with funds provided by the US and will be used for demining works on four projects located on arable land and forest in Tordinci, Vinkovci, Vučedol and Nuštar.

Exhibition ‘’Living with Land Mines’’   (2007-05-14)
The exhibition ‘’Living with Land Mines’’ was opened on 14 May 2007 at the Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana. In collaboration with the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF), the Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia (IRRS) and Embassy of Canada the main objective of the event was to confront viewers with devastating consequences of land mines around the world.

The 17th SEEMACC meeting held in Šibenik, Croatia   (2007-04-25)
The purpose of the meeting was continuation of regional cooperation in the field of mine action. During the meeting through discussion SEEMACC members/observers agreed on the common base of the joint training programs for employees in mine action structures, which should be carried out with shared pool of lecturers.

Victim Assistance Workshop in Tirana, Albania   (2007-04-11)
The main objective of the Workshop, organized by the Albanian Mine Action Executive (AMAE) and ITF was to discuss achievements, needs and future plans of Victims Assistance programs in Albania. The Workshop proved to be a creative forum where insights in every day practice in concert with international experiences contribute to determination for change and goal setting.

The International Mine Action Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina   (2007-04-05)
On the occasion of the International Mine Action Day, celebrated on 4th April, a display of mine action activities was organized in Sarajevo on the Trg Oslobođenja street. The event was organized by BiH Mine Action Centre (BHMAC) and the United Nations agencies in BiH (UNICEF and UNDP), together with other stakeholders on state and local level. The International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance took active part in this event.

Regional Workshop   (2007-03-28)
The workshop, Mine Action as a Confidence Building Measure, was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 26-27 March 2007. The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan supported by Canada, Slovenia, the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF), and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). It was Co-Chaired by General (Ret.) Maurice Baril of Canada, Special Advisor to Canada’s Ambassador to Mine Action, and, Mr. Stanislav Vidovič, Head of the Security Policy Division of Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

First National Mine Victims Assistance Workshop in BH   (2007-03-01)
The Workshop "Defining priorities for Mine Victims Assistance" was held in Sarajevo, from 26 to 28 February 2007. The main goal of the Workshop was to assist the Government of BiH to meet its obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina in meeting its obligations in relation to Mine Victims Assistance under the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention and to raise awareness on the rights and needs of mine survivors and other persons with disabilities.

First donation of Karlovac County to ITF   (2007-01-24)
The Karlovac County Prefect Mr. Ivica Horvat and ITF Director Mr. Goran Gačnik signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Karlovac County and ITF on 24 January 2007. 17th Session of ITF Board of Advisors   (2006-11-22)
The 17th Session of ITF Board of Advisors (BoA) took place in the Glass Hall of the Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana on 22 November 2006. The ITF Intermediate Report 2006 and guidelines for 2007 were presented at the meeting. At the same time the members were introduced with the Value Added Tax (VAT) problem ITF is facing in Bosnia in Herzegovina. The next BoA will be held in March 2007.

Signing of Annexes with Students of Orthotics – Prosthetics Engineering   (2006-04-03)
Mr. Goran Gačnik, director of International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance and Mr. Robert Cugelj, director of Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia signed annexes with five students of Orthotics – Prosthetics Engineering of University College of Health Care in Ljubljana.
Five students from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia have been scholarship-holders since 2002. Toward their graduation in 2006, the scholarships have been assured by Republic of France, Republic of Slovenia and United States of America.

Adaptation and equipping of a ship for support of humanitarian underwater demining and divers training in Montenegro   (2006-03-28)

Mr. Thomas Robertson, Ambassador of United States of America and Mrs. Barbara Kosler, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia presented the cheque in the amount of 12.000.000, 00 SIT to Mr. Goran Gačnik Director of International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance.
The collected funds from the humanitarian event Night of Thousand Dinners were doubled by the United States of America and as was mentioned at the event, earmarked for Grčka Glavica I and Mojmilo - Barice, two demining projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During their meeting they were introduced with the county programs of their origin as well as with the activities of Croatian Mine Action Centre in hosting country. The representatives of ITF were on its regular yearly visit to representatives of Senate and Congress of United States of America in the period from 13 until 17 March 2006.
Mr. Goran Gačnik Director of ITF during the visit presented the annual report on the use of the funds of main donator and provides the presentation on ITF activities for 2006.
Once more, ITF got the support in US Congress and Senate. Special and warm welcome ITF got by Congressman James L. Oberstar, who visits ITF premises in summer 2005.

Rehabilitation of mine victim from Azerbaijan in Slovenia   (2006-03-06)
In March 2006 Mr. Elman Malik Alijev from Baku Azerbaijan, a 30 year old mine victim arrived in Slovenia, where he received rehabilitation treatment at the Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia. Mr. Alijev is the first mine victim from Azerbaijan for whom ITF enabled rehabilitation in Slovenia.

RAIFFEISEN KREKOVA BANKA D.D. DONATED 1 MILLION SIT TO ITF   (2006-02-24)
Raiffeisen International Group, one of the leading banking groups in Central and Eastern Europe represented in Slovenia by Raiffeisen Krekova Banka d.d., signed the Memorandum of Understanding with International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) on 23 February 2006.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding the Raiffeisen Krekova Banka d.d. decided to support the activities of ITF in 2006 in the amount of one million SIT. With this generous initiative the common efforts to make  region of South Eastern Europe free from impact of mines will thus be supported.

Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between ITF and UNDP   (2005-12-12)
Memorandum of Understanding between International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance ( ITF ) and the United Nations Development Program in BIH (UNDP), was signed on 07 December 2005. Donation  in the amount of 400.000,00 USD is earmarked for realization of first phase of Integrated mine action plan in community Čađavac – Brčko District. First phase includes 3 locations for demining ( 114.496 m2) and 5 locations for technical survey ( 348.403 m2) in Brčko District. Second phase of Integrated mine action plan will be executed by the funds provided by the Government of Brčko District.

In November 2005 ITF received two donations in total amount 239.087,72 USD.  Municipality Stari Grad Sarajevo donated funds earmarked for ITF demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina in amount 178.952,16 EUR on 18 November 2005 and Republic of Korea donated funds earmarked for support to ITF mine action activities in amount of 30.000,00 USD on 24 November 2005. In period January – November 2005 ITF raised 24.585.335,02 USD of donations.

Donacija v višini 2.2 milijona dolarjev za sofinanciranje struktur v okviru Centra za protiminsko delovanje v BiH   (2005-11-16)
ITF prejel ponovno podporo Sveta ministrov BiH za protiminsko delovanje v BiH. Minister za civilne zadeve Bosne in Hercegovine (BIH), dr. Safet Halilovič, in direktor Mednarodne ustanove – fundacije za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF), Dorijan Maršič, sta danes v prostorih Sveta ministrov BIH v Sarajevu podpisala že tretji aneks k protokolu o sofinanciranju struktur v okviru centra za protiminsko delovanje v BIH. Tokratni aneks vsebuje dogovor o donaciji Sveta ministrov BIH ITF-u v protivrednosti 2,2 milijonov ameriških dolarjev.

Annex 3 of Protocol for co-financing Mine Action Structure in Bosnia and Herzegovina signed   (2005-11-15)

Mr. Safet Halilović, Minister of Civil Affairs, Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, Director of the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistant signed Annex 3 for co-financing Mine Action structure in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Donation in the amount of 2,2  million USD is earmarked for co-financing and support structures involved in process of demining in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is third donation of the Council of Ministers BIH for demining process support in BIH.

Minister Halilović and ITF Director Dorijan Maršič hope in a future successful cooperation for elimination of mine threat in Bosnia and Herzegovina and contribution to improvement of the conditions for people BIH to live in the safe environment.

15th SEEMACC Meeting held in Bijela, Montenegro (SCG)   (2005-10-26)
The 15th South Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC) meeting was held on Thursday, 13 October 2005 in Bijela, Montenegro (SCG). Opening speech was delivered by Aleksandar Moštrokol (Secretary General; Government of Montenegro, Ministry of Foreign Affairs).The main point of the SEEMACC was dicussion about new SEEMACC rules of procedure and about implementation of common project proposal on borderline between Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro. The idea was to prepare one extensive project proposal where all national mine action centres will cooperate.
Next SEEMACC meeting is planned to be held in Sibenik, Croatia in April 2006.

SWITZERLAND DONATED ONCE MORE TO THE INTERNATIONAL TRUST FUND FOR DEMINING AND MINE VICTIMS ASSISTANCE (ITF)   (2005-10-18)
(Ljubljana, 18.10.2005) Memorandum of understanding was signed today between  International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) and Swiss Federation in amount 250.000,00 CHF, by Swiss Ambassador H.E. Mr. Paul Koller and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, director of ITF, at  the premisses of Swiss Embassy in Slovenija. Funds will be earmarked for demining operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina for support of two manual clearance teams within the project of Norwegian People's Aid.  Swiss Federation has already, over the past seven years, contributed to ITF more than 3 millions of american dollars and remains one of biggest and most regular donors to ITF.

VISIT OF ITF REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON   (2005-09-14)
(Washington, 14.09.2005) Director of International Trust Fund for demining and victims assistance (ITF) Dorijan Maršič and deputy director of ITF Goran Gačnik met at premises of Capitol Hill with four representatives of American congress and senate to personally thank them for continuous support to ITF. On this occasion senator Mike DeWine and Richard Durbin, as well as congressman Elton Gallegly and Steven R. Rothman received acknowledgement plaquettes for continuous support to ITF.
Representatives of ITF had on this regular visit in United States also met with other mine action actors: in State Department they presented plans for ITF activities in year 2006 and had a meeting with ambassador Robert M. Beecroft, former head of OSCE mission in BiH and supporter of initiative for regional approach in mine action. Moreover ITF representatives met with some of continuous donators and partners of ITF in USA such as Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, representatives of Landmine Survivors Network and headmen of James Madison University.

Memorandum of Understanding   (2005-09-06)
Memorandum of Understanding between ITF and the Federal Republic of Germany, signed on 02 September 2005 was the fourth donation from this Donor in 2005. Ms. Anke Holstein, ambassador deputy, and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, ITF director, were the signatories of this 450.000 Euro worth MOU. The Funds are earmarked for demining in Serbia (Serbia and Montenegro), namely on the border with Croatia. The projects of demining shall be executed in the Šid community, where infrastructure, agricultural areas and forests are still mine polluted.

Visit of Senator Thomas Harkin at ITF Headquaters   (2005-08-30)
American Senator Thomas Harkin during his visit in Slovenia, where he received the Decoration of the Golden Order of Merit from Dr. Janez Drnovšek, President of the Republic of  Slovenia, also used the opportunity to visit ITF headquarters at Ig.
ITF director Maršič and his deputy Gačnik presented the latest results of ITF actvities in SE Europe region. This was also the occassion to express the appreciation to Senator Harkin for continuous support and contribution to ITF story of success.
Senator Harkin plays an active role in American Congress supporting the field of humanitarian activites and is signatory of Appropriation Act which provides US funds for ITF activities each year. Since 1998 United Stated of America donated through ITF $82,5 million and is the biggest donor for Humanitarian Mine Action in the world.

to support mine awareness The Spirit of Soccer program, financed by U.S. State Department, through International Trust Fund for Humanitarian Demining and Victims Assistance, and Laureus Sports Foundation. The purpose of visit of Laureus World Sport Academy members is to educate children on the risk of mines through soccer training, as well as through other sports. With the representatives of the International Trust Fund and Spirit of Soccer they visited the Regional Mine Detection Dog Center in Borci-Konjic and National Stadium Koševo in Sarajevo.
Sir Bobby Charlton, assisted by Ilia Nastase and Scottie Lee, coach and founder of the Spirit of Soccer organization, held a training session at the Kosevo stadium in Sarajevo with 60 junior players from the Zeljeznicar and Sarajevo soccer clubs.

Generous donation of United Kingdom to ITF   (2005-08-08)
ITF recieved donation of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in amount of 1.000.000 GBP. Agreement upon donation was signed on 8. August 2005 at the British Embassy between British Embassador, Tim Simmons and director of ITF, Dorijan Maršič. United Kingdom is one of biggest donators to ITF and a signinificant contributor to solution of mine problem in region of SEE and other mine affected regions. Since establishment of ITF in 1998 United Kingdom already donated two times in total sum of more than 1.550.000 GBP. The third donation will be earmarked for humanitarian demining projects in four countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro an Azerbaijan.

Memorandum of Understanding between ITF and Ministry of Urban planning and Environmental protection - Canton Sarajevo   (2005-07-29)
signed on 06 July 2005 at the protected landscape Bijambare in Sarajevo. The donation will be used for the support of demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina which include demining of three location Bijambare in Sarajevo region. Donation of Ministry of Urban planning and Environmental protection – Canton Sarajevo will be also matched by United States of America, which will be also used for demining activities at the location Bijambare.
The demining of this locations will have a great impact on ecological tourism development and will certainly contribute to improvement of  the conditions for people in Sarajevo and BIH to live in the safe environment .

Second Donation of Federal Republic of Germany to ITF in year 2005   (2005-06-23)
H.E. Mr. Hans Jochen Peters, Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany in Slovenia and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, Director of ITF signed memorandum of understanding for the donation of 1.85 million euro earmarked for demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo (Serbia and Montenegro). Major part of donation (1.7 million euro) will be used in Bosnia and Herzegovina to clear infrastructure and agricultural land and at the same time enable safe return of IDP's and refugees to their homes in more than 20 municipalities all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
150.000 euro will be used for the clearance of recently discovered minefields in Dulje pass (Kosovo) bordering Albania, which will enable safe transport and travel among local population.

The donation will be used for the support of demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Lukavica and Vlasic Municipality. French donation for Vlasic Municipality will be also matched by United States of America. This is first direct donation of the Embassy of the Republic of France in Sarajevo through ITF and hopefully the beginning of new and successful cooperation for elimination of mine threat in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Brussels Presentation of ITF work at the Landmines Information Day - The European Parliament for a Mine-Free World   (2005-06-16)
Information day was first joint hearing of the Development, the International Trade and the Foreign Affairs Committees- via the Subcommittee on Security and Defence. Hearing was organized with the purpose to raise awareness about the problem of landmines among members of European parliament.
Director Dorijan Maršič and Deputy Director Goran Gacnik used this opportunity to present to PM's landmine situation in the regions of South East Europe and South Caucasus as well as to inform them about the work and plans of ITF in the field of Mine Action. ITF also promoted regional cooperation among mine affected countries in the region of SE Europe which would contribute to more rational use of funds and capacities and faster eradication of landmine problem. For that reason also director of Croatian Mine Action Center, Mr. Jungwirth and director of regional Mine Detection Dog School, Mr. Hagimujagic participated on the event.

American Congressman James Oberstar during his visit in Slovenia, where he received the Golden Order for Services for his support for Slovenia and for Slovenia's membership in NATO, also used this opportunity to visit ITF headquarters at Ig.

NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session in Ljubljana   (2005-06-01)
As a part of NATO Parliamentary Assembly spring session, taking place in Ljubljana between 27-31 May 2005, a Science and Technology Committee also held session. There Mr. Dorijan Maršič ITF director gave presentation on the demining operations in the region of South East Europe titled "Social Impact and Technical Capabilities on a Field of Humanitarian Demining in the Region of South East Europe”.
At the same time he also introduced the strategy of anti-mine activities in mine-affected countries and regional cooperation as the example of good and positive practice.
He stressed that the international community should continuously help the region of South East Europe, regardless of the efforts of national capacities, to reach the goal of ‘’free of impact of mine until 2009.’’

The  Rotary Club Calvia organised a Charity Golf Event sponsored by Engel & Völkers on Palma de Mallorca on 21 May 2005. € 13.000,00 were raised and the funds to 2 organizations during that event. Rotary Club Calvia and E&V agreed to donate € 3.000,00 to the ITF and a cheque was handed over to Mr. Dorijan Marsic, Director. The funds will be doubled by the matching fund system and earmarked for a project of rehabilitation of a child – landmine survivor from Albania. In addtition Mr. Marsic discused with the members of the Rotary Club calvia about common cooperation on the 100Y Coin project where funds raised would be dedicated to MVA projects in SEE.

International Trust Fund for demining and Mine Victim Assistance received a donation from company »MARASKA« amounting to 4,5 million Croatian Kunas. The MoU was signed by the Chairman of the board of “Maraska” Mr.Josko Zavoreo, and ITF director, Mr. Dorijan Maršič. The donation will be used for demining / technical survey of 212 hectares of plantations of unique and world renown cherry Maraska thus enabling cultivation of

ITF representatives presented ITF activities and plans to OSCE   (2005-04-15)
ITF representatives visited OSCE Headquarters in Vienna with the purpose to introduce work of ITF and discuss about possibilities of cooperation between the two organizations. ITF would like to transfer its knowledge in the field of Mine Action accumulated  from the region of SE Europe to the regions of South Caucasus and Central Asia. OSCE is already strongly involved in both regions, South Caucasus and Central Asia regions respectively. Some OSCE member states were interested to support ITF pojects dealing with training of locals and activities promoting confidence building through mine action among nations of the respected regions.
Official visit was also used for presentation of ITF work and program for 2005/06 to Embassies covering Slovenia from Vienna.
Main event during the visit, ITF presentation and photo exhibition of renown Slovenian photographer Mr. Arne Hodalič, was hosted by the Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to OSCE in Vienna.

The Delegation of EU parlamentarians visited ITF Implementation Office   (2005-04-07)
The delegation of 10 European parliamentarians led by Elmar Brok (Chairman Foreign Affairs Committee) visited ITF Implementation office in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 7 April 2005. After short presentation of ITF achievements in the region of South East Europe and in Bosnia and Herzegovina they visited active demining site near Sarajevo. Representatives of implementing agency Norwegian Peoples Aid presented the organization of demining site and standard operational procedures in humanitarian demining. EU parliamentarians have shown great interest for a mine problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

European Union Mine Action Coordination Meeting for SE Europe   (2005-04-06)
European Union Mine Action Coordination Meeting for SEE was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on 6-7 April 2005. The purpose of the Meeting was presenting national plans and activities in the field of mine action as well as presentation of European Commission (EC) work in mine action in each mine affected country in the region of SE Europe. On the Meeting were presented national demining plans by Mine Action Centers, past/current project by EC and result achieved. Mr. Gačnik, Deputy Director of the  ITF presented ITF and its work in the region of South-East Europe and Ms. Uršič, GIS Project Manager of the ITF presented the Project »Geographical Information System for Mine Action in South- East Europe«.

Kingdom of Norway remains devoted supporter of Mine Action in SEE   (2005-04-06)
International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has again received the Kingdom of Norway donation for 2005.  The amount of  $ 4.647.261,71 is part of biannual Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Kingdom of Norway and ITF. The seventh consecutive donation will be used for demining and technical survey activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. Part of the donation, in amount of $23.133,00 will be earmarked  for the rehabilitation of mine victims from the region of SE Europe. In the past seven years, Kingdom of Norway donated more than $ 27.2 million US  confirming to be one of the biggest supporters to Mine Action through ITF as well as worldwide.

14th SEEMACC Meeting held at Ig, Slovenia   (2005-03-30)
The 14th South Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC) meeting was held on Wednesday, 30 March 2005 at Ig, Slovenia. The meeting was attended by all SEEMACC members and observers. The main point of the SEEMACC meeting was discussion about new SOPs and about SEEMACC rules of procedure. All SEEMACC members/observers presented action plans for 2005. The meeting was opened with a speech by Mr. Stanislav Raščan (General Director for policy planning and multilateral political relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia).

Humanitarian Event »Night of A Thousand Dinners«   (2005-03-12)
This year's event "Night of a Thousand Dinners" took place at Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana, on 12 March 2005. Fourth consecutive, with over 200 guests attending, was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia. Altogether, nearly 8,000.000 SIT were raised. Proceeds from the "Night of a Thousand Dinners" will be earmarked for two demining projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the USA-UNA, Adopt-A-Minefield clearance program. The main goal of the event was to spread mine awareness and raise means for landmine eradication. Hosts of the dinner were H.E. Mr. Thomas Robertson, Ambassador of the United States of America, H.E. Mr. Robert Hage, Ambassador of Canada and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, ITF. Honorary guest at the dinner was Minister of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Karl Erjavec. On the event also photos on theme of »Mine Action in the region of SE Europe« by Arne Hodalič, renown Slovenian photographer were presented.

XXV. Meeting of the ITF Managing Board   (2005-03-10)
The Managing Board took place on 10 March 2005 at ITF Headquarters in Ig. The members accepted the minutes of the previous meeting held in Tirana. The introduction of the ITF Annual Report 2004 followed together with the ITF Plan for 2005. Both were accepted by ITF Managing Board. Other items were the subject of the internal regulation of ITF. Next meeting is planned for autumn 2005.

Successful Conclusion of First Regional Management Course in Tbilisi   (2005-02-28)
The first management training course for mine action middle managers in the South Caucasus was successfully conducted by Georgian Technical University over two modules between 6 December 2004 and 18 February 2005.  20 participants from all three countries of the region, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia attended the course and graduated from the course. All participants gained new and needed knowledge on management in mine action, but also established good relations among each other, which will contribute to improvement of their performance in the field of mine action.

Czech Republic again contributed to ITF   (2005-02-10)
The Memorandum of Understanding No. 9 was signed today in the ITF premises between Czech Ambassador in Slovenia, H.E. Mr. Tomaš Szunyog and ITF Director, Mr. Dorijan Maršič. The ninth Czech donation will be used for demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
All togehter from 1998, Czech Republic has contributed more than 430.700 USD for different mine action activities in the region of SEE and thus remains one of the most regular donors to ITF.

Visit of the US Embassies representatives from the SEE region   (2005-01-14)
The visit of the US representatives assigned for humanitarian issues at US Embassies in the region of SEE visited ITF Headquarters in Ig from 13 to 14 January 2005. On the first day of their visit ITF presented its activities in the region of SEE. The opening remarks on the second day were given by the State Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Božo Cerar. The third Irish donation in total amount of 115.450 EUR is earmarked for mechanical ground preparation activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina coordinated through EUFOR. 13th SEEMACC Meeting held in Tirana   (2004-12-15)

ITF's breakfast with journalists   (2004-12-08)
International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance organized working breakfast with journalists from Slovenia. Purpose of such events that ITF is usually organizing once a year is to inform journalist regarding the progress, problems and new development in Mine Action and ITF. Journalist that are new to MA topics have possibility to get basic information and explanation of MA process and about the work of ITF. On this occasion new director of ITF, Mr. Dorijan Maršič presented himself and ITF strategy for the following year. Conclusions from the Nairobi Summit for Mine Free World were also presented due to the importance of first review conference of the Ottawa convention of prohibition of use, stockpiling, production and transfer of anti-personnel mines.

ITF bolnišnici v Kukesu predal medicinsko opremo   (2004-11-25)
Mednarodna ustanova - fundacija za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF) je Regionalni bolnišnici v albanskem Kukešu predala medicinsko opremo v vrednosti 92.140,25 ameriških dolarjev. Donacijo so ITF-u zagotovile Združene države Amerike. Z denarjem so v fundaciji bolnišnici kupili mobilni rentgen ter kirurške pripomočke za ortopedske posege. S tem bo izboljšana medicinska pomoč tamkajšnjim žrtvam min ter zagotovljeno kakovostnejše zdravljenje pacientov.

International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has provided to Kukes Regional Hospital in Albania a portable x-ray and three othopaedic surgical kits. The equipment was provided under United States Department of State donation. As Kukes lies in the north-east of Albania and is, thus, the closest town to the mine affected area, its need to treat mine victims is the greatest. In order to avoid long and costly transports of mine victims to hospital in Tirana, Kukes hospital acquired much needed equipment that will greatly help better and quicker assistance to victims on the more professional and quality level. At the handover event held on 23 November, Hospital Director Mark Nufi, American Embassy official Ningchuan Zhu and ITF Director Dorijan Maršič gave short speeches expresing mutual gratitude and wishes of continuation of good cooperation and support to the region.

Demining project in Cyprus started   (2004-11-19)

We are pleased to announce that ITF received note verbale from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Cyprus stating that demining project in Cyprus (UNFICYP controlled buffer zone) started on 16 November 2004. Government of the Republic of Cyprus also thanked Governments of Canada (250.000 USD) and Slovenia (1 million SIT) for providing funds through ITF which covered  costs of setting up UN Mine Action Cell as well as detection and personal protective equipment for the two implementing agencies chosen on UNDP restricted tender.

The demining program is further funded by the EU through its program »Partnership for the Future«, which has already made available 2.5 million Eur so that demining process in Cyprus would proceed as planned.

France continues support to students   (2004-11-18)
Memorandum of Understanding for new French donation in amount of 35.000 EUR was signed on Thursday, 18 November 2004 between H.E. Mrs. Dominique Gazuy, French Ambassador to Slovenia and Mr. Dorijan Maršič, ITF Director. The new donation represents the continuation of support to studies of orthopedic technicians of 5 students from the SEE region. Together with the US matching funds the students will be able to succesfully finish their studies in 2006.

ITF Board of Advisors held 09 November 2004   (2004-11-09)
13th Session of ITF Board of Advisors was held today in the premises of Training Center for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Ig. At the Session the ITF new appointed Director, Mr. Dorijan Maršič, presented the ITF 2004 Intermediate Report. At the same time, different presentations on the developments in mine action in Bosnia and Herzegovina were presented. The introductory remarks were given by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andrej Logar.

Seventh Swiss donation to ITF   (2004-10-06)
The Memorandum of Understanding between Switzerland represented by Ambassador Paul Koller and International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance represented by its Director Dorijan Maršič was signed on 06 October 2004 in the premises of Swiss Embassy in Ljubljana. This is already the seventh Swiss donation to ITF. The donation in total amount of 200.000 CHF is earmarked for demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina implemented by NGO Norwegian's People Aid. Until today Switzerland contributed more than 2,89 mio USD for demining activities in SEE and remains one of the most regular donors to ITF.

12th SEEMACC Meeting held in Azerbaijan   (2004-09-29)

Three locations in Bugojno handed over to local community   (2004-07-06)
The three microlocations in Bosnia Herzegovina cleared with the fund of Republic of Slovenia through ITF were handed over to the representatives of Bugojno local authorities on 06 July 2004. The ceremony took place in Kopčić - Bugojno community in the presence of Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in BiH, H.E.Mr. Tadej Labernik, ITF Deputy Director Goran Gačnik, Head of Bugojno Community Mustafa Strukar, BH MAC Deputy Director Fabijan Grganović, media and other representatives and observers. Three locations, namely Vileši, Kopčić and Unis Binas 4, in total 25.444 square metres and 424 mines found, were cleared with the donation of Slovenian government, doubled by US Department of State matching fund. The clearance of the areas will enable improvement of water sources and small economy prospectsfor the local comunity.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Czech republic represented by Ambassador Tomaš Szunyog and International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance represented by its Acting Director Jernej Cimperšek was signed in the ITF premises on 28 June 2004. Successful auction of US Women Fed Cup team equipment   (2004-05-26)
A very successful auction of the U.S. Women Fed Cup Team tennis equipment was concluded by a champagne toast on 26 May 2004. At his residence the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Slovenia Johnny Young recepted tennis equipment purchasers, representatives of ITF, Slovenian Tennis Association, Finance newspaper, and journalists. Two checks were presented, each for 2.5 million SIT. In addition to auction collection, U.S. Tennis Association added its donation. The 2.5 million SIT was then doubled by US DoS matching fund.Thus, 5 million SIT was contibuted for rehabilitation of children mine victims from the region SE Europe and MVA initiatives.

The fifth summer holidays of children - mine victims   (2004-05-07)
The fifth summer holidays for children - mine victims from Bosnia and Herzegovina were enabled by the US donation to ITF at the Health Resort in Debeli Rtič. The 7 day holidays from 03 to 10 May 2004 were organized by ITF in cooperation with the Red Cross of Republic of Slovenia. At this occassion, the US Ambassador Johnny Young also visited the children on Friday, 07 May 2004. The similar holidays will be organized for additional group of children from Albania and Macedonia in the fall 2004.

ITF signed a Protocol with Republic of Macedonia   (2004-04-05)
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Macedonia-Department for Civil Protection and the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance signed a Protocol for the Development of Capacities and Transfer of the Responsibility for Human Demining Process to the Republic of Macedonia at ITF headqarters in Ig, Slovenia. Both sides have thus agreed that it is neccessary to improve the activities of the human deminig process in the Republic of Macedonia in order to develop capacities and to transfer the responsibilities to the MOD.

12th Session of ITF Board of Advisors   (2004-03-30)
The 12th Session of ITF Board of Advisors was held on 30th March 2004 in the premises of the Training Center for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Ig, Slovenia. Mr. Jernej Cimperšek, ITF Director (Acting) presented the ITF Annual Report for 2003, as well as the Operational Plan for 2004. Presentations were also given on the topics of Cyprus Mine Problem, CROMAC-Center for Testing, Development and Training, SHARE SEE Project by Handicap International, and US Humanitarian Mine Action Strategic Plan. The Session was attended by 22 of 28 members of ITF Board of Advisors.

Norway again contributed 4,2 million USD to ITF   (2004-03-26)
ITF has again received the Kingdom of Norway donation for 2004 in amount of 4.231.807,82 USD. The Memorandum of Understanding was presented on 26 March 2004, at ITF Headquarters-Ig. H.E. Mrs May Britt Brofoss, Ambassador of Kingdom of Norway in Slovenia, and Mr Jernej Cimperšek, Acting Director of ITF,signed this, already the sixth, donation of Kingdom of Norway. It shall be used for demining activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. Part of the donation, in amount of 145.000 USD will also be earmarked for the program of rehabilitation of mine victims. In the past six years, Kingdom of Norway has donated more than 22,6 million USD and is, thus, the second biggest donor to ITF besides US.

Humanitarian Underwater Demining Training at RCUD completed   (2004-03-08)
A three week course in Humanitarian Underwater Demining implemented at Regional Center for Underwater Demining in Bijela was completed on 07 March 2004. This was already the second generation of divers that succesfully finished the course at RCUD in Bijela-Montenegro (SCG). The course was attended by 12 divers from 5 countries, namely Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Russia and Serbia and Montenegro that were proposed within the South-East Europe Mine Action Coosrdination Council (SEEMACC) members. New donation of Government of Norway   (2004-02-24)
The Government of Norway has again contributed NOK 29.290.000 towards the support of demining activities undertaken by Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia in 2004. Part of the donation will also be earmarked for rehabilitation of mine victins from the region of South East Europe. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Jan Braathu, Deputy Director General at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

New contribution of the Government of Canada for Albanian Mine Action Programme   (2004-02-12)
The Government of Canada contributed 192.960 Cdn$ towards the support of "Albania MA Capacitiy Building and Coordination" project of UNDP in Albania. The contribution agreement was signed with Ambassador for Mine Action Mr. Ross Hynes. ITF is very happy that the donors continue to support the Mine Action programme in ALbania as it could be free from the impact of mines by 2005 should the level of support be sustained.

Humanitarian Event "Night of a Thousand Dinners"   (2004-02-09)
This year's event "Night of a Thousand Dinners" took place at Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana, on 6 February 2004. Third consecutive, with over 200 guests attending, was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia. Altogether, nearly 8,000.000 SIT were raised. Proceeds from the "Night of a Thousand Dinners" will be earmarked for rehabilitation of Albanian mine victims and the USA-UNA Adopt-A-Minefield clearance program. The main goal of the event was to spread mine awareness and raise means for mine eradication. Hosts of the dinner were H.E. Mr. Johnny Young, Ambassador of the United States of America and Mr. Jernej Cimperšek, ITF. Honorary guest at the dinner was former president of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Milan Kučan.

Austria donated more than 340.000 Euro for mine clearance activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina   (2003-12-19)
Austria donated more than 340.000 Euro for mine clearance activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. in the district of Brčko and Unsko-sanski canton. The donation will clear more than 200.000 square meters of high priority mine-contaminated areas. The donation agreement was signed today at the Austrian Embassy between the Austrian Ambassador, H.E. dr. Ferdinand Mayrhofer-Grünbühel and ITF director, Jernej Cimpersek. Bosnia and Herzegovina is still the most mine-affected country in the region of South-East Europe with more than 2000 square kilometers of suspected mine-contaminated land. Thus this donation will contribute to the aim of clearing Bosnia and Herzegovina of mines by year 2010.

EU donated Digital Orthophoto (DOP) through ITF for CROMAC   (2003-12-08)
State Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Croatia and ITF signed the agreement for the donation of 250 sheets of digital orthophoto (scale 1:5.000) in total amount of 200.000 EUR. European Commission donated funds for the production through the project “Geographic Information System for Mine Action in South-East Europe”. Two Croatian firms Geofoto d.o.o. and Zavod za fotogrametriju d.d. were selected through international tender for the DOP production. Digital orthophoto and digital maps in scale 1:5.000, as a product of high technology, represent technically, qualitatively and economically best solution for upgrading basic cartographic processes and geographical information systems, in function of planning, studying and analysing of humanitarian demining in Croatian Mine Action Centre.

Launch of the 2004 Nairobi Summit on a MIne Free World   (2003-12-02)
The 2004 Nairobi Summit on a MIne Free World was launched near Nikozia on Cyprus by Acting president of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias and the Austrian Ambassador Wolfgang Petritsch. In the words of Wolfgang Petritsch it is expected that the world leaders will establish a concrete plan to fullfil the aims of the Ottawa cponvention between 2004-2009. The 11th Session of ITF Board of Advisors was held from 09:30 to 14:30 on 11th November 2003 in the premises of Training Center for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Ig, Slovenia. Regional MDD Center in Konjic officially opened   (2003-10-14)
Regional Mine Detection Dog Center was officially opened on Tuesday, 14 October 2003 in Borci-Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina. For the first three years the MDD Center will be financed by the Office for Humanitarian Demining Programs, United States Department of State, after which the responsibility for the Center will be taken over by the BiH Council of Ministers. The regional MDD Center will hold training courses for personnel to work with dogs and dogs to detect all types of mines and UXOs.

ITF and Commission for Demining of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a Protocol on development of national capacities in the field of Mine Action in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the Protocol is in defining avenues and timelines for establishing national capacities for tendering process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as braoder subject of preserving and enhacing the level of donation for demining in Bosni and Herzegovina. The Protocol foresees cooperation in the field of fundraising, presentation of mine situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as training of staff in integrated communication in Mine Action; all with the aim of improving the current state of affiars in the field of Mine Action in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

ITF plaques of appreciation given to US officials   (2003-10-02)
ITF plaques of appreciation were given yesterday in the ceremony at Capitol Hill yesterday. The plaques were given to senators Voinovich and Harkin, congressmen Oberstar nad Kirk, and to the Assistant Secretary of State Lincoln Bloomfield Jr.. USA donated until today more than 62,7 million US dollars to the ITF, that enabled clearing of more than 23 million square meters of mine contaminated land in the region of South-eastern Europe.

Mr.Roger Tomlinson (he is known as »father of Geographical Information Systems«) visited ITF on 01 October 2001. He is a president of Tomlinson Associates Ltd., Consulting Geographers in Canada. Mr. Tomlinson is a visionary geographer who conceived and developed the world's first Geographical Information System (GIS) for the Canada Land Inventory. He pioneered the use of GIS worldwide to collect, manage and manipulate geographical data, changing the face of geography as a discipline.

ITF donation of computer to Fllanxa   (2003-09-26)
ITF Deputy Director, Mr. Goran Gačnik handed over the laptop computer to 14-year old girl from Albania, mine victim, Fllanxa Murra in the premises of the Institute for Rehabilitation of Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana on 26 September 2003. ITF already raised more than SIT 2 million with the voluntary contributions of the participants at the humanitarian event "Night of a Thousand Dinners" on 30 November 2002 for a rehabilitation of Fllanxa who has lost both of her legs and partially also wounded her hand. The rehabilitation at the Institute for Rehabilitation has enabled her to increase mobility in her life. Predstavniki Mednarodne ustanove – fundacije za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF) so se skupaj s češkim veleposlanikom v Sloveniji Tomašem Szunyogom danes v vasi Stoberda v severni Albaniji udeležili predaje očiščenih minskih polj v uporabo lokalnemu prebivalstvu. S sredstvi, ki so jih preko ITF-a donirale Češka, Luksemburg, Nemčija, ZDA ter EU, sta organizaciji DanChurcAid ter Swiss Foundation for Mine Action v regijah Kukes, Has in Tropoje letos očistili preko 100.000 m2 ozemlja. Mednarodna ustanova – fundacija za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF) je letos za aktivnosti v Albaniji zbrala preko 2,7 milijona ameriških dolarjev, od leta 2000 pa skupaj že več kot 7,4 milijona.

Visit of the minefields in Northern Albania   (2003-09-25)
The ceremony of hand-over of the cleared land to the local communities took place in Stoberda, Northern Albania on Friday. Albanian Mine Action Executive thus handed over the land cleared in 2003 by the two demining NGOs DanChurchAid and Swiss Foundation for Demining for safe use to local population. The ceremony was attended also by the representatives of the donor community, Albanian authorities, UNDP, KFOR and ITF. The ceremony was also accompanied by the presentation of the demining machine ML-1 that was the donation of the United States of America through ITF to the Albanian Mine Action programme and Danminar MDD team, that was supported by the Czech donation through the ITF. With the sufficient donor support in 2004 and 2005 Albania could be free of the effect of mines by the end of 2005.

Visit of BiH delegation   (2003-09-09)
Members of the BiH presidency visited the Center for Mine Victims at the Institute for Rehabilitation of Republic of Slovenia (IRRS) in Ljubljana on 9 September 2003. ITF Director, Jernej Cimperšek has invited the BiH delegation to present the activities of ITF in BiH and the rehabilitation programme for mine victims executed through ITF at IRRS. Until now ITF has funded the rehabilitation for 646 mine victims from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Rehabilitation centers in BiH and IRRS and 16 additional patients - mine victims are being rehabilitated at the moment at IRRS.

New donation of Ireland to the ITF   (2003-09-05)
Ireland and ITF signed the Memorandum of understanding for the new Irish donation in amount of 115.450 Euro. The Memorandum was signed by the Irish Ambassador in Slovenia, H.E. Mr Gary Ansbro and ITF director. The donation will be used for the support of mine clearance operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. the mechanical ground preparation for support of Entity Armed Forces demining. EAF demining is coordianted through SFOR. Bosnia and Herzegovina is still one of the most mine-affected countries in the SEE region with more than 1 million mines and UXOs still contaminating the land. The donation will help in restoring the return of the peoples lives to the path of normalcy.

Memorandum of Understanding signed between Republic of France and ITF   (2003-09-04)
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Republic of France, represented by H.E. Mr. Olivier de La Baume, French Ambassador to Slovenia and ITF, represented by ITF director, Jernej Cimperšek. This is already fifth donation of the Republic of France to the ITF, which means that all together France donated more than 290.000 Euro to the ITF. The amount of this times donation (83.800 Euro) will be spent for support of the supervision and training of the Kosovo Protection Corps in the province of Kosovo (Serbia and Montenegro).

Memoranda of understanding signed between Federal Republic of Germany and ITF   (2003-08-14)
Today 3 Memoranda of understanding were signed between H.E. Hans Jochen Peters, Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Slovenia and ITF director, Jernej Cimperšek. Germany thus donated more than 1,3 million Euro for the demining activities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro. Until today more than 4,2 million USD were donated by Germany to the ITF.

ITF received 2003 ESRI Special Achievement Award in GIS   (2003-07-10)
ITF has been selected to receive a “Special Achievement in GIS” award at ESRI’s 23rd Annual User Conference. This award is being given to user sites around the world in recognition of their outstanding work in the GIS field. ITF was selected to receive this prize from over 100,000 user sites worldwide. The award was presented at a special ceremony on Thursday, July 10, in San Diego, California, USA.

Nagrada ITF-u v San Diegu   (2003-07-10)
Mednarodna ustanova – Fundacija za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF) je konec preteklega tedna v San Diegu, Kaliforniji, prejela prestižno mednarodno nagrado za izredne dosežke na področju geoinformacijske tehnologije. Nagrade letno podeljuje ESRI – Enviromental System Research Institute iz Zdrženih držav Amerike, na svoji letni konferenci, kjer je bilo tokrat prijavljenih 100.000 uporabniških predlogov geoinformacijske tehnologije.

Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for new donation of the Czech Republic   (2003-06-16)
H.E. Mr. Tomas Szunyog and ITF Director Jernej Cimperšek signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the seventh donation of the Czech Republic to the ITF in the amount of 50.000 USD. The donation will be used for support of the MDD team in Albania - demining is executed by the NGO DanChurchAid. Until today more than 317.000 USD were already donated by the Czech republic to the ITF for the demining activities in the region of SEE.

Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between ITF and the Czech Republic   (2003-06-13)
New Memorandum of Understanding between ITF and Czech republic will be signed in the ITF headquarters 16 June 2003 at 10:00. Czech republic until today donated already 317.000 USD to the ITF for different Mine Action Activities. Direktor Mednarodne ustanove-fundacije za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF), mag. Jernej Cimperšek, je na obisku v Združenih državah Amerike. Namen obiska je predstavitev dejavnosti ITF predvsem posameznim kongresnikom in senatorjem v Washingtonu in srečanje s predstavniki State Departmenta. Direktor bo tako obiskal 15 pisarn kongresnikov in senatorjev, med katerimi se bo srečal s kongresnikoma Jimom Oberstarjem in Markom Kirkom.

Idejo o Regionalnem centru za podvodno razminiranje sta na skupnem sestanku v Podgorici podprla podpredsednik Vlade Republike Črne Gore Dragan Djurovič in direktor ITF-a, Jernej Cimperšek, ki je sogovornika informiral tudi o podpori donatorjev. ITF je s pomočjo donatorjev že zagotovil sredstva za nakup računalniške opreme v višini 48.000 Evrov, kot tudi opremo za usposabljanje v okviru zgoraj omenjenega centra.

Slovaški predsednik Rudolf Schuster je na srečanje v Slovenijo prišel z darilom   (2002-05-31)
V okviru 9. srečanja predsednikov sreednjeevropskih držav je slovaški predsednik Rudolf Schuster na Bledu predal direktorju Mednarodne ustanove-fundacije za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF) Jerneju Cimperšku stroj za razminiranje slovaške proizvodnje, Božena 4. Stroj, z manj kot 5 tonami teže, spada med tako imenovane lahke stroje za razminiranje, ki so zelo uporabni na manjših in neravnih površinah, saj so zaradi svoje »majhnosti« relativno okretni.

Podpisan sporazum o donaciji 15 detektorjev za iskanje min   (2002-05-13)
Mednarodna ustanova Fundacija za razminiranje in pomo>č žrtvam min (ITF) je s svojim delom, ki zajema odstranjevanje min in neeksplodiranih ubojnih sredstev ter usposabljanje makedonskih ekip za razminiranje, v Republiki Makedoniji prisotna od konca leta 2001. S ciljem vračanja razseljenega prebivalstva na svoje domove so do meseca decembra, ko so dela zaradi vremena začasno prekinili, očistil že več kot 2.000 objektov in preko dva milijona kvadratnih metrov onesnaženih površin.

Jernej Cimperšek, direktor Mednarodne ustanove - fundacije za razminiranje in pomoč žrtvam min (ITF) je bil na povabilo generalnega sekretarja Zveze NATO, lorda Robertsona gost zasedanja Sveta evro-atlantske zveze - Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC). Lord Robertson je zasedanju, ki je potekalo na sedežu Zveze NATO v Bruslju tudi predsedoval. Na njem je Cimperšek v kratki predstavitvi govoril o delovanju ITF-a, ki ga v NATO-u ocenjujejo kot odličen primer učinkovitega regijskega sodelovanja na evro-atlantskem območju.
