PMR-2A and PMR-2AS

STAKE-MOUNTED, TRIPWIRE-ACTIVATED ANTI-PERSONNEL FRAGMENTATION MINE

BODY:
Cast iron fragmentation body mounted on a wooden stake, consisting of 9 rows of external serrations, (vertical and horizontal) that houses a TNT cartridge. Stake is usually natural wood but metal stakes, normally used for the training version of this mine, have been encountered in use with live mines.

Diameter 66mm, Height 140mm + fuze.

TOTAL WEIGHT:
1.7kg.

EXPLOSIVE DETAILS: 
100g Standard TNT demolition charge.

FUZE TYPE AND ACTIVATION:
UPMR-2A or UPMR-2AS fuze for tripwire operation. UPMR-2AS provides the capability to incorporate a flare that is launched vertically on actuation of the mine. This is intended to provide illumination of a mined area when PMR-2A is covered by otherweapons or in an ambush. Fuze is screwed into the top of the mine. Approximately 3kg pull is required to operate the fuze. Tripwire is coated with olive green plastic coating. This is sometimes protected by pressure-operated blast mines laid along the course of the tripwire.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
With the UPMR-2AS fuze, the flare is launched simultaneously with detonation. Lethal range is approximately 30 metres, hazardous to 100 metres. One of the four most numerous Anti Personnel mines in Bosnia Herzegovina.
