TMA-1 and TMA-1A

ANTI-TANK BLAST MINE


BODY:
Olive drab moulded plastic. Upper part of the mine is the pressure plate. Lower part of the mine contains the explosive. Upper part is secured over the lower part by four plastic shear pins inserted into the edge of the body. Eight broad, raised ribs are spaced equally in a radial pattern on the upper surface of the mine. A threaded screw cap covers the fuze well in the centre of the mine. Fuze well is threaded for UANU-1 fuze. A plastic, retractable carrying handle slides into a recess built into the base of the mine.

6.5 kg.

EXPLOSIVE DETAILS: 
5.4 kg TNT + 150 g Trotyl / Tetryl booster charge.

FUZE TYPE AND ACTIVATION:
uanu-1 Pressure fuze operates by chemical action. This causes a spark to be created and fires the detonator to explode the mine. Mine will activate when a pressure exceeding 100 kg is applied to the upper surface. Pressure requirement may be reduced if upper part of mine is cracked of damaged. One anti-lift fuze well is built into the centre of the underside.

SAFETY FEATURES:
A safety pin through the body of UANU-1 fuze. Mine is armed when safety pin is removed.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Non-metallic mine with minimum-metal fuze. TMA-1 is normally buried at depths of up to approximately 160 mm. TMA-1 will severely damage armoured vehicles and destroy most types of non-armoured vehicles.
