INTRODUCTION

 

Mr.Goran Gačnik, ITF Director stated on the occasion of contract signing for 2006 LSN program in Bosnia and Herzegovina that financial support for mine victim assistance from US Department of State is of crucial importance to mine victims as it brings hope to survivors mine-victims and their families in bringing back normality to their everyday life.

 

DONOR REPORT FOR 2006

 

By July 2006, ITF managed to raise donations in the amount of USD 22,590,574.80 for Mine Action projects and programs.  Donations were made by following donors: Adopt-a-Minefield, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Cimermacic Zdenka, Czech Republic, DanChurchAid, European Union, Germany, Government of Central Bosnian Canton, Handicap International, Hungary, Ireland, Kampos Iztok, Landmine Survivors Network, MARASKA D.D., Marshall Legacy Institute, Mobitel d.d., Night of a thousand Dinners, Norway, Raiffeisen Krekova Banka d.d., Rotary Club International Calvia, Rotary Club Wien-Nordost, Slovenia, Switzerland, The Government of Republic of Serbia, United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), United Nations Development Programme and United States of America. Roughly 93% of donations came from public, while 7% from private sources. The percentage of private funds in 2006 represents the significant rise, compared with 4% of ITF annual average of private donations raised.

ITF demining and technical survey results achieved from January to July 2006

 

67 demining and technical survey projects have been carried out with total of 2,175,298 sq.meters of land released (more for demining results, more for technical survey results)

 

ITF Rehabilitation results from January to July 2006

 

From January to July 2006 26 mine victims have been rehabilitated in the Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia.

 

Volleyball club for disabled persons „Fantomi„ Sarajevo and ITF organize  sitting volleyball tournament “Sarajevo Open 2006”

 

On May 5, 2006 the Agreement between ITF and Volleyball club for disabled persons „Fantomi„ Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina was signed for the organization of the sitting volleyball tournament »Sarajevo Open 2006«. 

 

Students from Orthotics – Prosthetics Engineering of University College of Health Care in Ljubljana continue studies at IRRS

 

On April 3, 2006, International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance and Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia signed annexes with five students of Orthotics – Prosthetics Engineering of University College of Health Care in Ljubljana.

 

Integrated community Mine Action plan projects starts

 

On 14 June 2006 works on integrated community Mine Action plan project site in Brčko District started. The projects on location Čađavac are financed by UNDP Bosnia Herzegovina and Brčko District through ITF.

 

ITF visited USA in June 2006

 

ITF signed contract for support of LSN program in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2006. Further support of US Senate and State Department to ITF is invaluable for the population of mine affected countries.

 

NATO Defense Review Committee visit ITF

 

In June the NATO Defense Review Committee visited ITF and received a briefing on ITF activities in the field of solving landmine problems in South East Europe and other mine affected countries and regions.

 

ITF signed Annex IV to the Protocol on BH MAC Structure co-financing in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 23 June 2006

 

Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and ITF signed Annex IV to the Protocol on BH MAC Structure co-financing.
